What is DND (Do Not Disturb)
To help telecom service users get relief from the unwanted promotional calls and messages, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) introduced a unique DND (Do Not Disturb) solution. Customers registering for it can avail the service.

DND service is available for Full and Partial Blocking your phone number from receiving promotional calls and messages.
DND Code: Fully Block

DND Code: Partial Block
- START 1 to block Banking – Insurance – Financial Products – Credit Cards
- START 2 to block Real Estate
- START 3 to block Education
- START 4 to block Health
- START 5 to block Consumer Goods & Automobiles

How to Activate Do Not Disturb (DND)
The process involved in activating DND service is same for all operators like Airtel, BSNL, Idea, Jio, Telenor, Vodafone, Aircel and more. Based on your need, get Partial or Full “Do Not Disturb” on your mobile number. Follow the steps below to activate.
- For Partial DND: SMS “START <Option>” to 1909 (Preference Options are mentioned above)
- For Full DND: SMS “START 0″ to 1909.
If you wish to un-subscribe Do Not Disturb service, SMS “STOP” and send it to 1909.
DND Status: Know Key Information
It takes 7 days from DND activation to stop the promotional calls and messages. All Calls and SMSs to 1909 are toll-free.
Activating new DND request can be processed at least after 3 months from the request sent for the previous one.
DND service will not block SMS alerts or calls from your bank, communication for online bookings, personal calling, etc.
